Christian, who was introduced by Kentico VP of Sales, Eric Webb, pointed out that the idea of "Customer Experience as King" originated 20 years ago when the Harvard Business Review published, "Welcome to the Experience Economy." This article described how as price and differentiation increased, organizations moved from providing basic commodities to staging experiences.

"Consumers have always paid a premium for a high-end brand – be it Ritz Carlton or Mercedes-Benz – and those brands have always prided themselves on delivering a superior experience," Twiste said. "What was new, however, was how this trend would affect nearly every sector of the economy, from buying a computer to a cup of coffee. The better the experience, the more consumers are willing to spend – up to 2.4 times as much."

The webinar addressed such themes as how business intelligence and marketing automation empower the customer journey, pointing out the challenges faced by today's marketers and how they can benefit from adopting agile methodologies developed to deliver complex technology projects. Christian also took a deeper dive into topics like marketing automation, advertising technology, data and analytics, and total tech spending.

In addition, the webinar gave insights into Business intelligence (BI) as an umbrella term that includes the applications, infrastructure and tools, and best practices that enable access to and analysis of information to improve and optimize decisions and performance.

There was also a section describing how to implement customer journeys and experiences in Kentico using the wide-variety of out-of-the-box marketing automation and activity tracking features included in the platform.
