Q1. What are the operations that GS1 supports in Dynamics?
The GS1 is configurable for each of the steps throughout the supply chain process. It is configurable for incoming receiving with multiple formats from different vendors. Print in a generic format for the entire operations of the business such as transfers, replenishment, movement, picking, production completion and others.
The GS1 capabilities can greatly reduce the total transaction time throughout the supply chain and time to correct mistakes.
Q2. For the GS1 Barcode does the system support both single- and two-dimensional barcodes.
Dynamics warehouse management app is capable to read both single and two-dimensional barcodes.
Q3. Is there a maximum number of orders that can be added to a cluster AND when system directed cluster picking is in use, I would like to know how those orders are selected by the system?
In the cluster profile the maximum number of positions which is the max number of orders that can be grouped in a cluster. For example, if there are nine totes on a picking cart then setting the number of positions to 9 would make sense.
On the second half of the question, you can configure the solution to what makes sense for your operation. For example, you can group by customer, by zone ID, by work ID, of by Date. Again, this depends on what the business needs.
Q4. ON the replenishment types I noticed slotting as an option. Can you explain how slotting works in Dynamics?
Slotting will consolidate demand from multiple orders so that inventory can be moved to a more convenient and efficient picking area. The system will allow the slotting replenishment to both consider current inventory in the slotting location as well as ignore it to create work to move the entire quantity. This is very effective when you have multiple orders with single lines of partial pallet quantities.
Q5. How does cycle count by threshold work?
A cycle counting threshold indicates the quantity or percentage limit of inventory items. Cycle counting work is automatically created when the threshold limit is reached.
Q6. I have a question about the small partial shipping. Is small package shipping available right out of the box or does it require any development?
This is a great question. SPS provides a framework for communication with the carrier APIs. There is development required to make the API call from Dynamics when a container is closed.
